Hello, dearest friends – and dear friends-to-be!

My name is Flat Kathy, and this is what I look like:
Do you want to know where I come from?
I was born on or around 13 November 2012, with the help of a group of blogging friends – Amy-Lynn of Flandrum Hill, Sybil of Eastern Passage Passage and Lynne from Five Good Things. The three friends were planning a hike in the woods near their home, on the beautiful island of Nova Scotia off the eastern coast of mainland Canada.
They wanted to take along their blogging friend Kathy of Lake Superior Spirit. She lives in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Kathy enjoys the outdoors quite a lot; she and her beloved Barry live on the shores of Lake Superior in what really does look like a snug cabin in the woods! But it is a long 31-hour drive of 1,627 kilometres from Kathy’s cabin to Sybil’s forest, and what with the lakes being all frozen in November and the heavy snow and ice on the roads making this trip quite dangerous, they asked me to stand in for Kathy from the UP.
You can read all about that adventurous hike in the forest on Sybil’s blog. We had a fabulous time together, as you can see! Kathy from the UP thought this was such a fun thing to do, that she raved about it on her own blog.

My friends then roped in a mutual blogging friend of theirs: Reggie from Grains of Sand. After some back and forth, she and her husband agreed to be my host family for an extended visit to the southern hemisphere.
As I wanted to tell my own story, I asked Reggie to help me create a blog. She kindly gave me access to a laptop, so that I could tappity-tappity away on the keyboard as much as I wanted.
I thus welcome you all to my blog, and hope that you will enjoy hearing all about my travels around the world – and my travel plans.
I look forward to seeing many, many beautiful countries and cities and villages across the globe. Perhaps, after hearing my story, you will feel inspired to invite me over for a visit, and show me around your home for a bit? I am very curious and eager to see as much of the world as I can!
So, dear friends – and friends-to-be – please drop me a line!
“Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Flat-Kathy, what an adventure you’re on! However, if I never see you back in Cow Bay, Nova Scotia, it will be too soon!!! Explore the world, stay safe and try, try, try to behave yourself.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Amy-Lynn. I will do my very best not to get into mischief. I am sooo very sorry about the unfortunate episode with him-who-shall-not-be-named. Those long weeks in
prisonthe envelope gave me plenty of time to ponder the mistakes I have made.LikeLike
Nice to read that you’ve turned over a new page Flat-Kathy. I’m sure Reggie will keep us all aware of any further indiscretions at least while you’re in South Africa, so you’d best watch your step.
I’m not sure whether or not your new blog should be mentioned to him-who-shall-not-be-named. Of course Sybil will probably blab it to him when she’s next over for tea!

Thank you so much for leaving a comment, Evez; I am pleased to meet you.
P.S. By the way, they are ‘tortoises’, not turtles. 😉
