After my lengthy trip by airmail from a still-wintery Denmark in the far northern hemisphere, to an oven-hot Cape Town, I was feeling rather exhausted.
“Flat Kathy, today is a very hot day, and it’s going to get even hotter in the next few days – into the high 30s,” Reggie told me, noticing that I was wilting in the heat. “So you may need some time to adjust, after being in Germany and Denmark in the last few months, where it was much, much colder.”
“Do you mind if I sit in the shade of the big tree for a bit?” I asked.
I was glad to oblige. It feels good to have a job to do.
