Hip-hip-hooray! We celebrate a milestone on Flat Kathy’s blog

14 August 2013

Today was a special day on the stats page of Flat Kathy’s blog: Her Fan Club now has 51 members – on behalf of Flat Kathy, Thank you to each and every one of you!

And her blog has had 5001 visitors since she wrote her very first blogpost at the start of February this year.

Look:

Isn't it wonderful that Flat Kathy's Fan Club has 51 members already? Thank you to each and every one of you for subscribing!

I think that is an excellent reason to celebrate!

As my dear friend Flat Kathy is currently gallivanting about the Midwest with Paprika and Oregano and getting all chummy with some of America’s previous presidents, I thought it would be a nice idea to gather together some of the friends and relations she met down here in Cape Town, who are missing her cheerful face and radiant smile.

We decide to have a little celebration to congratulate Flat Kathy

Thabo and Bheki (from Flat Kathy sometimes referred to as “the terrible twins”, though in a loving way, of course) did their best to look happy for the camera, but they have really missed her.

Gilbert the Gnome has tried to take on a fatherly role, but he is no match for them, and neither are his two young nephews, Peterle and Josseli, who hail from Bavaria.

Luckily, the Four Girls have been managing really well – but then they did have to bring me up when was little (and quite a handful, if reports are to be believed), and so they have plenty of experience between them.

The Kittens, in case you’re wondering where they fit in, as they have not made an appearance on this blog before, were sent by Miss Tuffy-Cat as stand-ins because she was huddling in front of the warm oil heater, and didn’t feel like getting wet in the sprint across the back garden to Flat Kathy’s little garden apartment.

She maintained that Flat Kathy would surely understand this, as she too doesn’t like getting wet. After all, Miss Tuffy-Cat continued, she does not have an adorable little rain hat like Flat Kathy.

Hm… she has a point.

Thabo and Bheki and The Girls... and the Kittens stand in for Miss Tuffy Cat, who didn't want to leave her warm spot next to the oil heater.

Anyway, to cheer us all up, we strung up some colourful balloons, and sang “For she’s a jolly good fellow!” at the tops of our collective voices. Can you hear us singing? Do sing along!!

“For she’s a jolly good fellow,
for she’s a jolly good fellow,
for she’s a jolly good fe-e-e-llow…
And so say all of us!”

Let's all sing along now - For she's a jolly good fe-e-e-llow... and so say all of us!

  1. Congratulations, Flat Kathy! I can’t believe you kept this milestone a secret and didn’t tell me about this while you were sitting in the backseat of our car for 8 hours today. I had to read about it online once we arrived in Colorado 🙂

    1. LOL!! Well, Flat Kathy didn’t actually know about it, as she hasn’t really been keeping track of her stats (unlike her designated blog-administrator / voluntary-and-unpaid-travel-coordinator / not-yet-officially-appointed-biographer). 😉 But perhaps the three of you can celebrate on the plane back, or something? Perhaps the cabin crew can give Flat Kathy one of their complimentary bottles of something-or-other?
