Corn-on-the-cob, crispy bacon and pizza with banana!

We had pizza tonight.

I think they were trying their best to make me feel welcome. Reggie seems to believe that Americans are all mad about pizza.

We sliced up some tomatoes, chopped up a large orange-red pepper, and then – much to my horror – she sliced up a banana!

As a pizza topping!!!  Can you believe it?!  I tell you, I almost fainted.

As she pushed the pizza into the oven, I yelled – “Wait! What about the cheese?!”

“What about the cheese?” she asked, surprised.

“Well, it’s pizza,” I said. “Don’t you have to put some cheese on it? Otherwise it wouldn’t be pizza, you know…?” (I mean, really, people!)

“I’m so sorry, Flat Kathy,” she said, crestfallen. “I can’t eat cheese. It gives me a bad headache.” She looked utterly distraught. “I don’t even have cheese in the house,” she explained, apologetically. I thought she was going to start crying. Oh dear. I’d gone and put my foot in it.

“Oh, don’t worry, dear, molten cheese isn’t good for my figure either,” I said, patting her gently on the arm. “I need to watch my cholesterol, you know.” (I don’t, but don’t tell her that. I was just trying to make her feel better.)

“But if you like, we can pick some up tomorrow morning and make another pizza tomorrow night, with cheese?” she offered.

“Yes, yes, let’s do that.” Phew. Crisis averted! Sometimes it is difficult to be a good guest.

Oh, and she also made some corn-on-the-cob. Well, she actually scraped it off, so I suppose you could call it corn-off-the-cob. She used the word ‘mielies’, which sounds a bit odd. And she didn’t slather on nearly as much butter as I would’ve liked, but I think she was concerned that I’d get all messy and greasy from the butter. Oh! I know, I will ask her for a napkin or a bib next time! I like my corn on the cob and slathered properly with butter!

But she did grill us some crispy bacon. Ooooh, that went down really well.

And I was pleasantly surprised that the combination of tomatoes, peppers, banana – and bacon – is actually quite scrumptious!

In fact, I think I won’t even insist that she grate some cheese on the next pizza.

      1. Well, personally, *I* think you’re very well proportioned. Solid muscle, I should think.

If you run around a lot (you said you really like playing catch and nose-ball or games like that?), surely you will burn off any excess calories? I think your owners should be a bit more generous with that cheese, if you like it so much as a snack.

    1. Well, I didn’t want to make a fuss, Rosie Bear. I *am* a guest here after all. So you quite like nibbling cheese, hm?
